You can find imported food in almost every city, even if it's more expensive than in France. You will be able to buy Nutella, cheese or pastry, if you're homesick. However, you still can put in your suitcase some specialties from your hometown. Be careful only take food in cans. Unpasteurized cheese could also be confiscated by customs. It's difficult to find coffee in some restaurant, but there is always hot water, so you can bring some instant coffee sachets.

 

Chinese medical system quality is good enough. You can find any medicines you need by consulting a doctor, or in explaining your problem in a drug store. Your host family will conduct you to the hospital if it's necessary. If you want to take some medicines before your departure, you can take :

- antidiarrheal

- travel sickness medicines

- Band-Aid and disinfectant

- aspirin or paracetamol

If you're taking a treatment, don't forget your prescription (written or translated into English) and to take enough pills for your stay.

 

You also can bring a French-Chinese dictionary, or you can download on your phone an application such as Huaying or Pleco. You also can bring some books, not always easy to find in small town.

 

Depending on your country, you may need an adaptator. For example, almost every socket can receive French plug, but no British plug.

 

Don't take your plane with more than 5000$ (about 4600€) in cash. You can withdraw money with your credit card in every cash machine. Contact your bank to have more information about the conditions in using your card in China.

You can be disappointed by Chinese beauty products, and the imported ones are quite expensive. So you can take your own favorite cosmetics. It's also difficult to find tampons and wax.
